RE: Pump Converter Winterize Kit

I'd put a "T" fitting on the line from the fresh water tank and a shutoff between that "T" and tank. You want to be able to use the pump to draw fluid a jug of pink juice without pulling air out of an empty water tank/ Are you sure you rig isn't already equipped ?

RE: No RVQ, has anybody bought one of these?

I opted for the Coleman Road Trip and a 11# propane tank. Nice grill and a great griddle when you add an optional griddle plate. I was concerned about stability when it's set-up but it proved to be a non-issue. Finding the propane takn proved to be a bit expensive but once it's home I got over it :)

RE: Bulbs (where to purchase?) when not close

If it's a standard 12V push in bayonet style then take a look to the landscape section at wal-mart, k-mart, lowes, home depot etc - 12V is 12V and the packaging most times is clearer on wattage. 4 watt or 7 is as high as you need. I think they're le$$ than in the auto or hardware departments

RE: Who do you like?

Freedom RV in Slinger, WI
Great to deal with on the initial sale, we both knew what discount was common - took all the time required for PDI - Had no problems delivering to our location - provided parts and tools so I could make a few repairs without hauling trailer 160 miles from it's summer resting place to them - Quick and fair on warrenty issues.

RE: Best Bang for the Buck

Oh what the heck, I'll chime in
We have a Jayco that has been the root cause of several thousand dollars known to escape the bank account over these past three years. Campground fees, firewood, beverages, food & fuel - non of these held any significance in the budget, until the Jayco arrived! I've discussed with the dealer and industry experts and nobody seems to have the ability to provide an answer. I guess I'm gonna have to hook the blasted thing to the truck and go figure it out myself.
Oh crap! It's approaching 3pm on a Friday - GOTTA GO :)
moral of the story: pay attention to the signature in the many existing posts and walk thru a bunch of trailers yourself. You've got the bug and you're goning to enjoy YOUR choice

RE: Can you shred these for me please?

WHile I've not looked at a Wildcat, I thought the Jayco interior looked nicer and was more solid that some of the Forest River products we've seen. The Jayco 2 year warranty is worth having - just in case.
You're looking for a short term / full time unit which to me, would require a stouter build quality - the weight difference may suggest heavier be better.
Are you going to be south of I-40 December thru March? If so heated underbelly might be enough. If not, you might want to consider a real "full time" unit. If this is a short term gig, why not look for a high end used rig that can be bought right these days.

RE: surge guards

i blame surges for taking out certain electronics last year - I paid a couple hundred bucks for a Progressive Industries unit and am comfortable the problem (and future expense) has been solved

RE: Jayco 5th wheels

Jayco build quality is as good as many but IMO they excel in consistency. They work hard at getting it right and repeat it often. They back that with a 2 year warranty. I had a problem with a TV failing after the warranty expired - while they could have given me a sad look and say sorry, they offered up a 50% cash payment suggesting I go buy whatever I'd like to put in the camper.

RE: Packing your fifth Wheel

I consider the 5er to be our "storm shelter" - Hence it's ready to hook-up and go at the drop of a hat. In this case, "storm" means all those uglies other than what mother nature delivers
